This article examines the feasibility and outcomes of performing hysterectomy for large uteri (greater than 500 g) using minimally invasive surgery (MIS), including both laparoscopic and robotic approaches. The study reviewed 73 cases, dividing them into two groups based on uterine weight (under 500 g and over 500 g). Results showed that MIS for large uteri is both safe and effective, with no instances of conversion to laparotomy, intraoperative blood transfusion, or major complications. The study found significant differences in blood loss and operative time between the two groups, with the larger uterus group experiencing more blood loss and longer operative times. Despite this, patients generally had short hospital stays and recovered well. The study concludes that with advanced surgical skills and specific techniques, hysterectomy for large uteri can be safely performed using MIS, providing patients with the benefits of a minimally invasive approach.
