This article describes the "Versius Variation," a novel technique developed at the Sydney Women’s Endosurgery Centre (SWEC) for training surgeons in robotic surgery. The method integrates robotic training into conventional laparoscopic surgery, allowing trainees to operate the camera and assistant arm using the Versius robotic system while the primary surgeon performs the laparoscopic procedure. This hybrid approach enables trainees to gain hands-on experience with robotic controls and develop essential skills in a supervised environment, bridging the gap between observation and primary operating. The study found that this technique facilitates the transition from assisting to becoming a primary robotic surgeon, enhancing surgical training effectiveness.
